There is a wide array of industries that need to check bacteria levels in their product, in their machinery or on surfaces on a regular basis. These businesses include the food production industry, agricultural, manufacturing, laboratories and many more. All of these industries need a convenient, cost effective way to test for bacteria whilst also meeting each business' specific needs.
Dipslides are a very simple and inexpensive way to test fluids and solids for the presence of bacteria. Dip slides utilise a swabbing and sampling method which is easy to use and analyse results. These slides have a large paddle and substantial handle for straightforward testing and easy reading. The handles and lids also make sure that containers that include the slides are airtight.
Dipslides help to avoid other lengthy laboratory methods of testing for bacteria and ideally need to be used in conjunction with incubators. Dipslides are sold in boxes of ten slides with a chart for you to compare your results with. Each slide has unique culture media on each side and different varieties test for different types of bacteria. There are general slides like the BT2 which can be used in a diverse amount of industries as it allows a total count on both sides and tests for aerobic bacteria. Other slides like the PC2 are particularly used for dairy applications such as analysing bacteria growth in milk.
PO dipslides are often used to test in food production environments. This slide contains a neutraliser for most germicides.
BTM2 slides are often utilised in the metal cutting / engineering industry where it can be used to test cutting fluids. This testing is often crucial in helping to prevent bacteria spreading that can affect the health of the workers. Testing of the bacteria can help to prevent the spread of skin and breathing problems such as dermatitis.
The SCM dipslides can be used specifically to test for food poisoning organisms such as E. Coli. These slides can also be used during food production or in the catering business. Water cooler and tank testing can be done using SCT dipslides which suppresses bacteria not in the coliform group. TPC dipslides are used for hygiene monitoring. This slide neutralises disinfectants to help monitor the cleanliness of different surfaces and materials. Although some slides can show levels of bacteria which could suggest the presence of legionella, no individual dipslide can test for this and legionella testing kits must be purchased instead. It is recommended in most cases that testing takes place on at least a weekly basis especially when testing water.
Dipslides and dipslide incubators can be purchased online.
